As a multidisciplinary artist working with painting, fiber art, and sculpture my practice is deeply rooted in sustainability and the ethos of making do with what you have. I find creativity within constraints, often incorporating found materials and embracing the imperfections that come with them.
My work challenges traditional societal roles for women, confronting the myths of innocence and propriety that have long been used to oppress the female sex. Through humor, I seek to disarm these harmful narratives, inviting viewers to question the status quo while finding lightness in the process of re-examining deeply ingrained norms.
Being a visually impaired artist, I have a unique relationship with sight and scale. I often choose to work in small formats, a deliberate act that pushes against the expectations of both the art world and the limitations placed on perception. Through my smaller works, I aim to create intimate, tactile experiences that engage both the eye and the mind, offering alternative ways of seeing.
Ultimately, my work is an exploration of resilience—both in terms of material and identity. By confronting societal constructs and creating in ways that honor my personal experience, I hope to contribute to a broader dialogue about sustainability, gender, and the many ways of seeing and being seen.
